When is Lent 2027?
Christian Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday; Easter 2027 falls on 28 March. Ash Wednesday is therefore on 10 February 2027. The 40 days come about if Sundays are not counted.
During this time many give up alcohol, sweets, meat or their phone in the evening. Others use it for a proper fasting cure.
A cure week as a start
A good idea: begin Lent with a week at a fasting hotel. You start with medical supervision, away from everyday life and its temptations. Afterwards it is easier to continue giving things up at home, for example no alcohol or sugar until Easter.
Forty days is long. A good first week makes the rest easier.
Which kind of fasting suits you
Depending on how strict you want it:
- Buchinger fasting: the classic, consistent way
- Mayr cure: light food and slow eating
- Schroth cure: drinking and dry days with wraps, very traditional
- Alkaline fasting: the gentle form where you eat until full
Good to know
February and March are in demand at many fasting hotels. If you want to fast at the start of Lent, book by December at the latest. After the cure week the usual advice applies: plan a few quiet days and let the body get used to normal food again slowly.
Fasting is not suitable for everyone, for example during pregnancy, with eating disorders or certain illnesses. A good house clarifies this with you beforehand.
