IV infusion therapy
In infusion therapy you receive fluid with vitamins, minerals or medication directly through a vein. Health hotels mainly offer vitamin and mineral infusions.

- Belongs with
- A doctor, not the spa menu
Medically, infusions make sense when a deficiency has been proven and cannot easily be corrected with food or tablets, for example with certain bowel diseases or a marked iron deficiency. Then exactly what is missing is given.
At hotels, infusions are often part of detox, energy or longevity programmes, for example with vitamin C, B vitamins or magnesium. For healthy people without a deficiency, an additional benefit has hardly been proven so far. Many water-soluble vitamins the body does not need are simply excreted again.
An infusion is a medical procedure. It belongs in the hands of a doctor, with a consultation beforehand and, where sensible, a blood test. A good house tells you openly when you do not need an infusion.
Good to know
- Ask whether blood values are checked first and who places the drip.
- High doses are not automatically better; some substances have side effects or interact with medication.
- With kidney disease, heart problems or regular medication, be sure to mention it beforehand.

Do vitamin infusions work?
With a proven deficiency, yes. Without one, a benefit for healthy people has hardly been proven, even if some feel fresher afterwards.
What does an infusion cost at a hotel?
It varies a lot and depends on the content and the house. Ask for the exact price beforehand and whether the infusion is included in your package.
